Saturday Morning Coffee with Mr. Living in Peru

Carsten Korch

Dear friends,

Justin Bieber landed this week in Lima and fans traveled from all over the country to see the Canadian star, who has stolen the hearts of millions. Girls, boys, families, grandparents, politicians, and celebrities gathered around him at the Estadio Nacional Wednesday evening, where he, during his 22 set song show, performed hits like Let Me Love You, Baby, Sorry, Where are You, Mark my Words and of course Purpose. See the complete set list here.

The mobile phone is often used to capture special memories and on this occasion, mobile networks were really tested as almost everyone at the stadium captured their moment with JB and sent them into Cyber Space.

One of the videos we found from the concert, shot with a mobile device in Lima Wednesday, was this one:

Also this week, our own Virgilio Martinez received the Chef Choice Award 2017 making him the best chef in the world and his restaurant, Central, remains among the top at the 5 best in the world. Congratulations!

Other Peruvian winners on the list of the Top 50 Best Restaurants in the world are:

No. 8 – Maido, which is managed by chef Mitsuharu '˜Micha' Tsumura and his amazing team.

No. 33 – Astrid & Gaston, named after the couple who almost 20 years ago started a small culinary revolution in Peru. After having taken a break from the kitchen at the restaurant, Gastí³n Acurio is back behind the pots to continue his mission to promote the Peruvian cuisine here in Peru and the rest of the world.

Denmark, where I was born, still has two restaurants in the Top 50, Geranium , which is the first restaurant in Denmark to receive 3 Michelin stars landed at no. 19 and Relae  made it to no. 39. You may ask yourself what happened to Noma, which was in the Top 5 for many years. They closed last year to build another amazing restaurant and I’m sure we’ll see them back on the list in the near future.

So who became no. 1.

Please welcome the dream duo, Will Guidara and Daniel Humm, from restaurant “Eleven Madison Park”: in New York. It has been a while since a restaurant in the Americas took the spotlight as no. 1 in the world.

Last week, I introduced you to the “Life after Death” digital experience based on CNN’s Mostly Human series . It is now time for episode two, for those of you who have an interest in this area.

This time Laurie Segall enters the world of hackers and describes how a frustrated young man called Junaid Hussain turned from a “fun” hacker to becoming one of the most dangerous cyber terrorist working for ISIS. After hacking into Tony Blair's mobile phone and sharing the content worldwide, he was killed by a drone bomb.

There are a lot of hackers out there and most of them are good, but the bad ones can influence our lives more than you think. If you watch episode two “Hacker Down – ISIS Twitter Star“ of CNN’s Mostly Human series you’ll learn a lot about how venerable we are.

Click here  and watch episode 2.

Have a great weekend and never forget that there is still more good than bad in this world.
