Thailand: A Quinoa Lover

Peruvian Superfood Quinoa continues to be a boom in the market and exports have risen to the skies.

Quinoa is quickly becoming an essential element in a healthy diet. It can be consumed in snack bars, cereals, cookies, protein powders, among other ways. According to the Association of Peruvian Exporters (ADEX), the Quinoa boom has reached Thailand as exports are increasing. In 2016, Thailand had registered exports of US$334,443, figure that increased by 356% from the previous year. The Asian country prefers quinoa as a pre-cooked product.

A Peruvian commission is traveling to Thailand to showcase the variety of Andean products including Quinoa. Peruvian Quinoa aims to conquer the Asian market at THAIFEX in Bangkok, Asia’s largest food & beverage trade fair. The food event takes place on May 31 to June 4.

This is a great opportunity for Peru to grow the demand of Quinoa and promote Peru's diversity.
