Competitors report Viva Air

The low-cost airline flew from Lima to Iquitos and competitors have shown their discontent and reported the airline. What do you think?

The airline Viva Air Peru has certainly shaken the market as competitors oppose to Viva Air flying over Peru. The Peruvian Association of Airline Companies (APEA) reported Viva Air to the National Institute for the defense of Competition and the Protection of Intellectual Property (Indecopi), claiming that the presence of Viva Air is unfair competition and affirms that the low-cost airline has misleading publicity.

APEA considers that Viva Air Peru is not a serious company as they created a false expectation when they announced: their sales in March and later on changed the date to April.

The Peruvian President, Pedro Pablo Kuczynski (PPK), responded and considers that the market needs to adapt to other changes. “Progress requires effort, adaptation, and change, and Peru is entering a new era” said PPK to Gestií³n.
